Clubs and Organizations

Students have the opportunity to join many clubs and organizations at Kedron Elementary School. Specific club offerings are based on the number of interested students and the availability of staff advisors.

Amazing Shake is a competition that focuses on professional skills such as communication, confidence, and poise. Top performers at the county level will have the exciting opportunity to compete at the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta. Amazing Shake is sponsored by Bridgette Scagnelli, 5th Grade Teacher.

Broadcast is open to all 5th graders and helps them develop public speaking, communication, and technology skills. Students create a daily, live broadcast for the staff and students at Kedron. This group is sponsored by Cassandra Hornung, Media Specialist, and Marie Pafford, Media Center Paraprofessional. Interested students complete and submit an application at the beginning of the school year.

Budding Artists is available to 4th and 5th grade students. Students will explore a variety of 2D and 3D media including paint, printmaking, clay, and sculpture. All projects are connected to learning about artists, styles, and cultures. Budding Artists meets from 3:30 to 4:45 on Thursdays. This club is sponsored by Joy Kembel, Art Teacher.

Calligraphy Club is available to 4th and 5th grade students. The purpose of this club is to enhance creativity, develop fine motor skills and improve concentration. Calligraphy allows students to explore different styles, forms, and artistic expression. The club meets on Tuesdays in October, November, and December. This club is sponsored by Regina Casanova, Word Language Teacher.

Cheerleading offers students the chance to learn foundational cheerleading skills, build confidence, and foster a vibrant sense of community. Perfect for beginners and seasoned cheerleaders alike, our club emphasizes teamwork, athletic growth, and enthusiastic support for our school. Get ready to boost your skills, ignite school pride, and make lasting friendships! Cheerleading is sponsored by Bridgette Scagnelli, 5th Grade Teacher.

Cross Country is available to 1st-5th grade students. Tryouts will occur in February. Selected students will begin practices in March. Participants prepare to compete against other elementary students across Fayette County at an annual Cross Country meet that takes place in May. The Cross Country coaches are Neanda Andrews, PE Teacher, and Tom Kelley, PE Teacher.

Drama Club provides students with the opportunity to participate in live theater in many different capacities. Participation supports students' personal growth, confidence, leadership, responsibility, and public speaking skills. Drama Club is sponsored by Kaytie Scholz, 3rd Grade Teacher.

Jump Rope Club is available to 2nd grade students. Jump Rope Club participants work to improve their jump roping coordination, stamina, and speed. The Jump Rope Club coaches are Neanda Andrews, PE Teacher, and Tom Kelley, PE Teacher. 

Junior Beta Club is a national acdemic honor scoiety for students in grades 4-5 that promotes the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service. Members are selected based on their strong acadmic performance and commitment to making a positive impact in their school and community. Through service projects, leadership opportunities, and community involvement, Junior Beta Club encourages students to develop as responsible, engaged citizens and future leaders. Junior Beta Club is sponsored by Tabatha Dearman, Enrichment Teacher, and Dr. Joanna Johnson, 5th Grade Teacher.

Kedron Cavaliers Chorus is led by the Chorus Director, Scott Simmons, and is open to 4th and 5th grade students. Students attend regular practices and develop skills in the area of performing arts. The chorus performs at least twice during the school year.

Kids with Character is a welcoming space where students come together to practice kindness, empathy, and positive actions in their school and community. Through fun activities, thoughtful projects, and collaborative initiatives, members learn how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and inspired to spread kindness every day. Kids with Character is sponsored by Bea Jones, ESOL Teacher.

Knights Code Student Technology Team invites 2nd-4th grade students to create technology-based projects and participate in the Kedron technology competition in May. Students who win first place in their grade band and category at the Kedron competition will form the technology team. They will meet several times in the fall to learn about technology and to refine their projects and presentations. They will present their projects to a panel of judges at the county student technology competition in December. Winners will move on to the regional competition and ultimately compete at the state level. Knights Code club sponsors are Erin Keith, Technology Specialist, and Cassandra Hornung, Media Specialist. 

Math Bowl All students in 4th and 5th grade are given a test in January to try and qualify for math bowl. The top 3 scoring students from each grade will make the team, along with one alternate. Fourth grade students will practice monthly during lunch in Mrs. Perez's classroom and fifth grade students will practice monthly after school with Mrs. Tickner. Students will compete in the county level competition in early May. 

Origami Club is available to 3rd-5th grade students. Beginning in October, third grade students will meet once a month for three months. Starting in January, students in fourth and fifth grade will meet once a month for three months. Both groups of students will learn the traditional art of paper folding. Origami Club is sponsored by Susan Gillard, ESOL Teacher.

Running Club is available to 1st-5th grade students to enhance fitness through running. Students run or walk around the track before school and earn certificates for accumulating laps. The Running Club coaches are Neanda Andrews, PE Teacher, and Tom Kelley, PE Teacher.

Safety Patrol is made up of 5th graders. The purpose of this group is to be a volunteer who wants to protect and encourage our students to observe safety rules. Members of the Safety Patrol will be good role models who can fairly enforce the rules while also fostering the qualities of leadership and good citizenship.  Safety Patrol is sponsored by Tabatha Dearman, Enrichment Teacher.   

Science Olympiad is a competitive team available to 3rd-5th-grade students. Science Olympiad develops a passion for and understanding of various science concepts and skills. Students become scientists, engineers, and researchers, as they participate in a variety of competitive science-related events. Students are selected through a tryout process. Tryouts are held in October. The Science Olympiad coach is Kori Perez, 4th Grade Teacher.

Sign Language Club is for fourth and fifth grade students looking to expand their communication abilities. We will focus on signing the alphabet, words, phrases, and simple conversations. The Sign Language Club sponsor is Angela Colvin, Enrichment Teacher.

Student Ambassadors/Student Lighthouse Team consists of one student from each class who helps our school become the best it can be and welcomes new students. Members assist the administration in making school-wide decisions as a part of the Principal's Advisory Council. The Ambassador Team will also serve as the Leader in Me Student Lighthouse Team. The 4th and 5th graders will help with school tours and inform others about the Leader In Me program here at Kedron, and they will be on stage at all 4 of our pep rallies. Nicole Douglas, School Counselor, sponsors the Student Ambassador/Student Lighthouse Team program.
